Welcome to episode one of my podcast, How’s Your Pain Today.
In this long awaited (by me) episode, I’m talking through the challenge of acting in line with our beliefs on a cellular level, particularly as it relates to ideologies and difficult conversations with people close to us. I do this using my personal philosophical framework, The Combined Syllabus. The four pillars of TCS are: compassion, connectivity, courage, and consequence.

Under the cut is the last post from my Substack, written pre-Mercury Rx. Well. The retrograde has retrograded, and as it happens, I am not as sure as I thought about a lot I thought I was sure about. I can’t be on Substack or excuse their nazi-tolerant (nazi) policy, though, and I am certain about that. The more you know! When you know better, you do better, if you want. This is that.

Hi,
I don’t feel compelled to completely re-introduce this iteration of Shalom on Substack, but I did update all of the about pages, more details about the new stuff in the round up, etc. Briefly, there’s monthly round up, a new podcast, and a readers room that will be hosted on this Substack, extra extra read all about it.

I come before you, as I said to my therapist yesterday, as the most Shalom to ever Shalom. The work has been grueling and I’ve been describing the growing as “Persephone being dragged back and forth across the ocean floor by her hair” since July. More time passes, more parts of myself make themselves known, more time to know myself means more time to know myself: I know I’m a lucky girl.
Micro magic of the month
The little things are the big things, and we are all made of the same stuff. The change from energetic supply to source has made this very clear to me. As disconcerting as the rapid descent into full fledged fascism and the concurrent denial of reality of US citizens has been, I am still feeling more hopeful than ever. The best timeline is the one we have, and the one we have is the only one we can do something in.
Some of the little magic that ended up being quite major:
- I started acupuncture! And started my aura studies. Micromajor for sure.

- I Am Not a teacher (authority issues, middle child) but I am definitely a tutor (peer to peer, middle child)
- Started calling myself a philosopher
- Remembered I am interesting. I said to my therapist, “You know, I’m realizing I am very interesting? And I think I have always been?” She laughed. Every person in my life I have relayed this discovery to has also laughed, mostly in disbelief that I was just finding out. Well, it just takes the time it takes you know? Past Shalom, online chronicler extraordinaire, blog babe who bought my domain in 2016: I love you. Thanks for leaving me clues

- I have to eat BEFORE I’m hungry, rest BEFORE I’m tired, IF I’M THIRSTY IT’S TOO LATE! I have no qualms about this Realizing but it was surprising how quickly the rewards from implementing it compounded.
- Mandatory daily nap. As a kid I used to think that when someone said they were going to siesta, they were actually going to “See Esther” and the journey was an hour or so. As an adult woman with fibromyalgia, I am going to see her every day. The consequences of not doing so aren’t worth it.
Macro magic of the month
- Over the summer, my friend and artist hero Ali told me, “if I was psychic, I would focus as much as I could on developing my psychic abilities”. I took her advice, lo and behold the channel is channeling. It’s almost confusing, dipping in and out of the ether, but then it’s the only way anything makes sense. Kind of like being in love during any kind of clusterfuck.
- I figured out my thing. My signature offering, if you will. The more IFS-based EMDR I do, the more I realize how I have been working on it the whole time. More on it soon because (also new) I don’t believe in rushing anymore. It’s called The Combined Syllabus (studyblr girls make some noiiiiise) and I’m excited to share it with you when it’s ready. YAYYYY

- Continuing in the spirit of not rushing, I have been taking my time in redoing all of my websites, deciding what I do and what they do, repurposing their functions to make them work for me, because they should. This is the end result:
- Over on okayshalom.com you will find my OG blog, essays, prose, poetry, book (!) snippets, whatever writer Shalom wants to put there.
- Here on Substack, I will be doing this monthly roundup (shout out past Shalom again for those monthly me posts), hosting my new podcast called How’s Your Pain Today, and cultivating a readers room. It’s kind of like book club but maybe it’s not a book. Maybe it’s a paper or a poem. In any case, I hope to create a space to digest and understand works that teach us how to show up in real life in a way that matters to each of us, for all of us.Paid subscribers will now receive the Butterfly Beat! This is a long time personal practice that I am stoked to now share. It is a weekly, channeled oracle reading that senses into how we can move into the energy of the coming week with a heart-centered perspective. The Beat is channeled on Saturdays and published on Sundays. For trauma informed, multidimensional psychic support, you can book with me here.
